Sirius Satellite Radio now offers a diverse lineup of RS-232 controllable receivers for the custom AV market. This module will control the SCH2P, SCH1P2 and the SCHDOC1P tuners via serial. These tuners start as low as $49.95 and have form factors as small as a pack of cigarettes moving up to a nicely built rack mountable model. Go check out the tuners online at Sirius.
The other good news is that Sirius offers the same tuner as an OEM component to other manufactures to integrate into their own product line. That means that this module will be compatible with more and more tuners in the future. Currently The Polk SRH1000 and the ADA SRX are examples. While the module will control these tuners it requiers that you place the tuner in a non-standard mode of operation. In most cases this is a volitile setting that can be lost during a power cycle of the tuner. The Sirius branded tuners listed above do not have this issue.
The module has blazingly fast control and feedback over any of the tuners. Over serial there is little to no lag time between a press and the update of the feedback.
